What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Little River Baptist Church - NC based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in these Biblical doctrines as we believe the Bible to be the inherent, infallible, inspired, written Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)

God

There is One God eternally existing and manifested in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. (Deut 6:4, Isaiah 44:6, Gen 1:26-27, 1 Jn 5:7)

Jesus Christ

God has revealed Himself to us through his Son, Jesus Christ, who is the Word made flesh, the visible Image of the invisible God, the mediator between God and men, and the only way that one can come to the Father. (John 1:1-14, Hebrews 1:1-3, Col 1;15, 1 Tim 2:5, John 14:6)

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations. (Gen 1:26-27)

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, sin entered the world. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God and die spiritually at the moment sin entered. Since that time, all of mankind has been born into the world with a fallen sin nature and is at enmity with God by nature. Therefore all must be given their wages for sin, which is death. (Gen 2:16-17, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us to God. He lived a perfect, sinless life in the flesh, fulfilling the righteous demands of God's Holy Law, and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised Him from the dead and now, by His grace through simple faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, He offers the free gift eternal life to all who believe. Salvation can only be found by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (2 Cor 5:19-21, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Eph 1:22-23, Col 1:18, Mark 16:15)

Eternity

We believe in the pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ as the crowning event of the Gentile age. This event will include the bodily resurrection of the righteous, and the millennial reign on earth will be followed by the final judgement, in which there will be a resurrection of the unrighteous unto eternal punishment in the lake of fire. But the righteous shall live eternally in the new heaven and new earth.  (John 14:1-6, 1 Thess 4:13-18, 2 Thess 2:8, Rev 19, Rev 20:4-6, Rev 20:11-15, Rev 21:1-8)
